Shu Kubota meets his end at the hands of an assailant wielding a baseball bat. At the scene of the crime, authorities discover a metal bat alongside an old toy. Detective Yoshito, portrayed by Tsuyoshi Kusanagi, arrives with the special investigation team to examine the evidence. Upon arrival, Yoshito recognizes the old toy as something he crafted roughly a decade ago during his tenure in the public relations division of the Kyoto Prefectural Police Department. Determined to crack the case independently, Detective Yoshito chooses to pursue the investigation without the assistance of his colleague, Detective Chinami, played by Kaho Minami.
