The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil

The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil

The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil is a reality TV series produced by the Ultimate Fighting Championship, marking a significant shift as it was the first season to be entirely filmed outside Las Vegas, Nevada. This edition, consisting of 12 episodes and a live finale, was shot in Brazil and aired in June 2012 on pay-per-view. Filming began in February 2012, with the show being produced by the Brazilian company Floresta and broadcast in Portuguese on Globo. Episodes were initially available online at TUF.tv every Sunday night and later shown in a marathon on Fuel TV leading up to the finale.

During a press conference on December 13, 2011, before UFC 142, Dana White revealed that Vitor Belfort and Wanderlei Silva would serve as the season’s coaches. Notably, Belfort competed and won against Anthony Johnson at UFC 142, breaking from the tradition where coaches typically did not fight other competitors until facing each other at the season’s end.

Open tryouts were held by the UFC on December 14, 2011, targeting Lightweight and Middleweight fighters aged 21 and over, with at least two wins in three professional bouts. From the applicants, 350 fighters were invited to participate, with the season featuring competitors from the Featherweight and Middleweight divisions.
