In the secluded western region of Scotland, a drug dealer betrays and murders a trafficker who supplies him with drugs. After being apprehended, the dealer discovers that a pair of unidentified locals witnessed the crime. Facing a life sentence, he decides to hire a hitman to eliminate any possible witnesses. Outside a rural police station, the hitman starts a stopwatch, dashes across the road, jumps into his car, and speeds away. He races through the desolate landscape until he arrives at the isolated, single-street village of Bartoun. He checks his stopwatch, which shows 28 minutes and 36 seconds. He notices a poster for a fair in a nearby village, advising Bartoun’s residents to gather on the main street at noon for transportation. As the villagers begin to assemble the following day, the hitman approaches and starts shooting, aware that he has 28 minutes and 36 seconds before the police arrive.
