Michelle Oakley’s veterinary practice, which covers vast expanses and includes a multitude of animal species, is as rugged as the Yukon itself. In her line of work, no two days are alike. Her house calls can involve anything from expressing a dog’s anal glands to being pursued by a massive Arctic musk-ox. With her teenage daughters by her side and a wit as keen as a scalpel, Michelle skillfully balances her roles as a full-time veterinarian, wife, and mother, all while guiding us through the untamed and often overlooked areas of the Yukon.
