First Target

In 1946, in an effort to avert the Chinese civil war, Zhou Enlai, representing the Communists, engaged in discussions with the Chinese Nationalist Party and George C. Marshall, the American representative, at Plum Village in Nanjing. The discovery of a misplaced notebook disrupted the already fragile peace negotiations, sparking a complex game of espionage among the three parties. The film portrays historical figures such as Zhou Enlai, George Marshall, Chiang Kai-shek, Soong May-ling, He Yingqing, Chen Cheng, and Hu Zongnan. Additionally, fictional characters like the skilled agent Xiong Huiquan, a female journalist, and a covert operative from the Confidential Bureau heighten the tension during this pivotal period.
