Beauty and the Beast

Beauty and the Beast is based on a tale by Madame de Villeneuve, originally released anonymously in 1740 under the title La Jeune Américaine et les contes marins. This story depicts Belle, a lively and endearing young woman who develops feelings for the Beast, a creature under a curse who seeks love and redemption. A simplified version for children was released in 1760, which later inspired the well-known adaptations by Jean Cocteau and Walt Disney. Despite these adaptations, Madame de Villeneuve’s original narrative has remained unadapted for the screen—until now!
