Ari Shaffir: Passive Aggressive

“Passive Aggressive” is a phrase from one of my routines, and it also serves as a broader reflection on my approach to challenging societal expectations that I feel compelled to follow. We aren’t the people they said we should be, and there’s nothing wrong with that. The narratives they fed us were nonsense. We have the freedom to pursue what brings us joy, regardless of who disapproves. We can judge them just as harshly. Seriously? You’re 24 and already married with two kids? That’s a lot to handle.
