A Friend of Mine

Seventy-year-old Mati, an avid lover of books, finds joy in his work at the library, which doubles as his passion. He spends his remaining free time with his beloved wife. However, his world is turned upside down when she unexpectedly passes away, shattering his once stable existence. Neither his teenage daughter nor his cherished books offer any solace. Overwhelmed by loneliness and apathy, Mati contemplates ending his life. Enter Sass, an unusual 60-year-old wanderer who carries a backpack filled with books and visits public libraries to read newspapers. Sass gradually rekindles Mati’s interest in life. “A Friend of Mine” is a heartfelt portrayal of isolation and companionship, illustrating how friendship can help us navigate the darkest times.
