Saved by the Bell

“Saved by the Bell” is an American sitcom that was broadcast on NBC between 1989 and 1993. It evolved from the Disney Channel’s “Good Morning, Miss Bliss.” The show centers on the adventures of a group of friends and their principal, primarily featuring humorous and light-hearted scenarios, but it also occasionally delves into serious social topics like drug use, drunk driving, homelessness, divorce, death, and environmental concerns. This blend of comedy and social commentary positioned “Saved by the Bell” as a forerunner to later series that introduced young viewers to important ethical issues.

The series features performances by Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Dustin Diamond, Lark Voorhies, Dennis Haskins, Tiffani-Amber Thiessen, Elizabeth Berkley, and Mario Lopez.

Recognized by AOL TV as one of the “20 Best School Shows of All Time,” the show’s success led to two spin-offs: “Saved by the Bell: The College Years,” a prime-time series that follows some of the original characters into college, and “Saved by the Bell: The New Class,” a Saturday morning series focusing on a new set of students at Bayside High School. Additionally, the franchise expanded with two TV movies and a brief comic book series. “Saved by the Bell” was also broadcast in Australia on Channel Seven and aired on Nickelodeon from 1990 to 2004, with reruns appearing in local syndication and on MTV2.
